Albertyn’s Cottage was built in 1800 and is one of the earliest known examples of English style cottages in the country.
Amlay House was built in 1858 and belonged to the Amlay family of Simon’s Town until they were forcibly removed on 1 September 1967 under the Group Areas Act of the Nationalist Government. The family were removed in 1975 and were the first former residents to return to Simon’s Town in 1995.
De Beers building was designed by the same man who designed the Union Buildings in Pretoria and is his smallest design.
The Nooral Mosque (translated as peace of the light) is the most southerly mosque in Africa. A past Imam of the Mosque was the first man to translate the Quran into Afrikaans.
Bay view house: built in 1806 and used to be a tavern frequented by the hospital patients next door.
Dutch reformed church: A past Pastor of this church Reverend de Villiers wrote the music to “die Stem”, which is part of our national anthem.
